"...an interracial fellowship completely purged from the curse of racial prejudice which stigmatizes the vast majority of its people..."
Join us during the weekend of October 20-22 to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Bahá’u’lláh. On Friday evening, October 20, Bahá’ís are hosting celebrations in their homes across the Grand Strand, and at two public venues, one in North Myrtle Beach and one in the Market Common Area of Myrtle Beach.
A Light of Unity Festival will be held Saturday, October 21, from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. at the Conway High School Auditorium, 2301 Church Street. The Festival will include singing, interpretive dance and other artistic presentations, as well as short talks on the theme of unity and the Baha’í community by Conway Mayor Barbara Blain-Bellamy, Dr. Deborah Breede, Rev. Leslie McIver and the Rev. Dr. Preston McKever-Floyd. A reception will follow. All events are free and everyone is invited to participate.
Following the reception, a new film, Light to the World, on the life of Bahá’u’lláh and the impact of his teachings on the world, will be shown in the Conway High School Auditorium from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
The film will also be shown at the Conway Bahá’í Center, 2601 Fourth Avenue, on Sunday morning at 11:00 am.
The Baha’is of Horry County are delighted to welcome their friends, neighbors, co-workers and community members of all faith backgrounds to share in commemorating this special anniversary.

Bahá’u’lláh (1817-1892) was a spiritual teacher Who announced in 1863 that He was the bearer of a new revelation from God. His teachings have spread around the world, forming the basis of a process of social transformation and community building which is unique in its global scope and the diversity of participants. We are celebrating the central theme of His teachings, the oneness of humanity, with its call for the elimination of all forms of prejudice, including gender, race, nationality and religion. “So powerful is the light of unity that it can illuminate the whole earth.”
